Having lived in a number of sports markets over the years, I’m well aware of just how toxic sport bar culture can be.

Barley, hops, and testosterone-fueled tantrums are not always my idea of a great night watching the game with friends. I’ll take the barley and the hops, but you can hold the problematic bro-culture, thank you very much.
If you’re like me — and it’s OK if you’re not — then I have a feeling we might run into one another at The Dub, when it opens in the final months of 2024. Named in honor of the WNBA (“The Dub,” get it), the new sports bar will focus primarily on women’s sports.
Set to be located at 107 W. 9th Street, between the T-Mobile Center and City Market, The Dub follows the recent trend of women’s sports-based sports bars, and should fit in comfortably in Crown Town — home of the greatest flippin’ women’s soccer franchise on the planet. (#KCBaby)

KCUR’s Madeline Fox did an awesome story about The Dub in September, in which she chatted with owners Monica Brady and Rachel Glenn about their hopes and vision for the spot.
Kansas City Magazine ‘s Tyler Shane noted in her piece about The Dub that Brady and Glenn are particularly stoked about the potential to serve breakfast alongside the weekend morning European women’s soccer matches.
So while we might still have some time before Brady and Glenn open the doors for realsies, I highly recommend following them on Instagram, where you can learn about all the rad pop-ups and other ways to support them before that time.
And then, you know, I guess I’ll see you there!
