There aren’t many modern musical acts like Amyl and the Sniffers. And there aren’t many venues like Uptown Theater.
Put them together, and the band’s April 2 date at the Uptown is a can’t-miss engagement.
If you’ve never seen or heard the Melbourne, Australia-based punk band, prepare to be transfixed. Amy Taylor is impossible to ignore — a 21st century Kathleen Hanna, whose stage presence and lyrics are both explosive and melodic in their femme-forward calls for revolution.
While the band is certainly not new (they’ve been winning major industry awards since 2019), their recent surge in U.S. popularity can be partially attributed to the dates they played in support of Foo Fighters during their most recent tour.

For me, what makes this show so special is that Amyl and the Sniffers fill their spaces so incredibly. Amy’s energy reaches into every inch of the space. At Uptown, I’m intrigued to see how this will work together.
I’m so pumped.
I mean, I’d be going regardless of where they were playing, but, in this case, the venue just seems like one more butt for Amy to plant a boot in.
